I obviously devoutly read the Freakonomics Blog as I’m sure you have noticed. Today they wrote about the Tivo Economics and the value of the personal time it is saving people by not having to watch commercials.
I miss having a Tivo more than you can imagine. It is definitely one of those things that you think you can live without until you have one and then you have one and can’t believe you ever lived without one. It saves enormous amounts of time and irritation. Admittedly, I still go home to my parents house to watch my entire week’s television programming on Sunday and it is easy enough to do when each hour of television takes less than 45 minutes to watch after skipping advertisements.
Over a year, I bet the Tivo saves me around 100 hours each year. Think of all the things you can do with 100 hours….all the reading, knitting, writing….the possibilities are endless.
